Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a progressive, fatal neurological disease found in deer, elk, and moose.

The disease attacks the brain of infected animals, causing them to display abnormal behavior

There is no evidence that CWD can infect humans.

As a precaution, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises people not to eat meat from infected animals.

 However, since it is similar to other diseases that can infect humans (such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease)

You should also avoid contact with the brain or spinal cord of any animal that may be infected with CWD.
